Overview

The Geotechnical Services Gympie laboratory is proudly collaborating with Durack Civil in the rehabilitation of over 4,000 road infrastructure flood damage sites in the Gympie region. This Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) and Gympie Shire Council project, with a budget of $35.4 million, has been eagerly anticipated since the series of devastating floods that occurred in January, February, and May of 2022.

This significant project encompasses a large scope, including repairing culverts, headwalls, floodways, pavements (both unbound and bound), unsealed roads, signage, guideposts, and implementing asphalt and two-coat seal works across more than 120 roadways within the Gympie region.

Our dedicated local team is performing a comprehensive suite of construction material testing including, field density testing, compaction testing, Degree of Saturation (DOS), concrete testing, and aggregate testing for our client, Durack Civil, to ensure the highest quality standards in road rehabilitation and construction are met. The collective efforts of all involved are set to make a lasting impact on the infrastructure and safety of the Gympie region’s road network, providing its residents and visitors with safer and more reliable transport infrastructure.

The project started in July 2023 and is scheduled to be completed in July 2024.
