Geotechnical Services Group is a 100% Australian-owned and operated construction material, environmental, and agricultural testing and drilling company. Established in 1986 in Hervey Bay, we pride ourselves on our local knowledge and experience in regional New South Wales, South-East Queensland through to Central Queensland. We provide high quality testing services that underpin the design, construction, and safety of some of Australia’s most important infrastructure projects.
Due to unprecedented success, our business is continually growing across all facets. We are currently seeking both Trainee and Experienced Geotechnical Drillers to join our team; to be based out of Brisbane or the Wide Bay (Hervey Bay – Bundaberg) region.
Working closely with our clients and accredited base laboratories, our drilling team provide a variety services throughout NSW and QLD, including: Site classification, Site investigation, Pavement investigation, Geotechnical investigation, Percolation testing, Environmental sampling, SPT testing and Water level monitoring.
Whilst our drilling locations are generally within the region you are based out of, from time to time, there may be a requirement to travel outside of the region and work away for a short period. The successful applicants will receive a mobile phone, tablet & modern vehicle with modern tray-mounted drill rig.
TRAINEE DRILLER
Skills and Abilities
- Construction material testing experience highly regarded
- Construction industry experience desirable
- Mechanically minded with ability to operate small plant
- Ability to travel for work when required
- Have strong communication skills and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work autonomously and with a team
- Ability to lift heavy loads for extended periods
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when required
Qualifications
- Current driver’s licence
- Construction blue/white card
- Willingness to complete company-funded Certificate 3 in Drilling Operations
EXPERIENCED DRILLER
Skills and Abilities
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Geotechnical Drilling
- Site classifications and Logging AS1726 & AS2870
- Construction material testing experience highly regarded
- Mechanically minded with ability to operate small plant
- Ability to travel for work when required
- Have strong communication skills and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work autonomously and with a team
- Ability to lift heavy loads for extended periods
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when required
Qualifications
- Minimum Certificate 3 in Drilling Operations – or willing to undertake to completion based on experience (company funded)
- Current driver’s licence
- Construction Blue card/ white card
