About the role

We are currently recruiting for a new Trainee Laboratory Technician (Soils/Water/Plant/Grain).

This represents an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to take the next step and develop their career with a company that emphasises putting scientific and environmentally sustainable principles first. Gain industry experience as a scientist and continue developing your skills through a variety of projects.

You will be working alongside a supportive team working on numerous analysis projects. This role is focused on analysis of soil, water, plant tissue and grains.

We are seeking someone with an interest in science to join our team in either a full time or part-time capacity to join our team.

The opportunity for further training in Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma in Laboratory Skills, Techniques or Technology.

This role will be based in Tamworth, NSW, and you will be required to attend the laboratory each day.

Tasks & responsibilities
  • Undertake lab-based tasks such as analysing soil, water, plant and grain samples as directed.
  • Undertake preparation and extraction of soil, water, plant and grain samples.
  • Learn to observe and maintain knowledge of all relevant quality control documentation and NATA requirements.
  • Working collaboratively to ensure that the data obtained during testing is reliable and reproducible.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information, results and reports.
  • Learn to deal with problems that arise within their area of work using application of acquired knowledge and reference to standard guidelines and manuals.
  • Learn to use spreadsheet formulas to perform calculations for quality control and assurance and learn to recognize non valid results or data.
  • Learn to conduct work in a safe manner in accordance with company policy.
Qualifications & experience
  • Completion of Year 12.
  • An interest in science.
  • Willingness to complete a Certificate III in Laboratory Skills.
  • Good computer and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a desire to become a part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm for producing quality work that delivers practical solutions for our client.
  • Gap year students would be considered.

The hourly rate will be in accordance with Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award 2010 [MA000010] or Professional Employees Award 2010 [MA000065] depending on qualifications.
